Noosa River Fishing Report

This week there’s been plenty of catches to open the school holidays with some good size whiting, bream, and Flathead reported mainly around the deeper holes of the Noosa Marina right down to the river mouth with prawns and worms being the best bait to catch them. Trevally have also been on the chew this week with catches up to 3kg around the Noosa sound area. There has also been reports of Mangrove Jack in the warmer waters with mullet strips being the best bait to target them. The second week of the school holidays promises to bring some fantastic conditions with plenty of sunshine and warm temperatures about so it’s a great time to get out and wet a line.

Noosa River Fishing Report

This week the river has been full of Whiting again from the ski run, right up to the river mouth. They’ve been coming in bunches with reports of up to 20-30 being caught during a day. The best time to target them has been early morning and late afternoon. Bream have been out and about again this week around the deeper holes and structures with prawns and worms being your best bait to target them in the river. Some good size flathead have also been around between the Noosa Marina and the first lake with reports of some up to 60cm. The next should bring beautiful weather again with the possibility of some cloud cover and warm temperatures.

Noosa River Fishing Report

This week Whiting have been the pick of the bunch with plenty being caught at both ends of the river with the majority being caught in the early morning and late afternoon. Worms have been the most successful bait for catching whiting. There has also been plenty of Bream around the deeper holes and structures such as the Noosa Marina, the Sheraton Bridge and the surrounding jetties. There has also been reports of a few trevally around the Noosa Sound and Woods Bay areas. The weather looks to be fine once again throughout next week, so get out and enjoy the beautiful spring conditions and catch a few fish along the way.

This week the river has seen plenty of bream all over the river from the mouth right up to the ski run with prawns and worms being the best baits to target them. Whiting have been out and about with some good catches on either side of Goat Island and around the marina. While there’s been reports of Flathead around again this week near the river mouth and frying pan with early morning and late afternoon the best time to target them. Next week will bring plenty of sunshine and some warmer temperatures to begin spring, so perfect time to get out on the water and have some fun.

This week the river has seen lots of Bream around the deeper holes and structures such as the Noosa marina and the Sheraton bridge. Whiting have been on the chew this week in and around Goat Island, while some good size Flathead have been caught with reports of some up to 80cm between the ski run and the start of the first lake. Soft plastics are the best form of fishing when targeting Flathead although prawns will work also. There’s also been reports of some Golden Trevally in the woods bay vicinity with early morning and late afternoon being the best time to try your luck. The next week should bring plenty of sunshine with some partial cloud cover so it’s a good time to get out and about and hook a few.

The river has seen lots of bream around deeper holes and structures such as the boathouse and the Sound bridge. Prawns and worms are the best baits when targeting bream although just about anything will work. There has been some nice golden trevally caught in the top end of the river, mainly around woods bay with mullet strips and pilchards being the best baits. Woods bay has seen some ripper mangrove jacks and jewfish over the past week at the top of the tide prefereably at dawn or dusk . There have been some cracker flathead caught this week anywhere between the ferry crossing and lake Cooroibah, mainly around Makepeace Island. Soft plastics are the best form of fishing when targeting flathead although prawns will work also.There has been some nice mud crabs caught in the river mainly around the dirtier waters such as Lake Cooroibah and the second ski run. The sand crabs are also still about in the top end of the river, mainly around the sandbags and frying pan area. The weather is tipped to be mostly fine with some very little light winds ahead.

Fishing has been great in the Noosa River with the water clearing up and a range of species appearing again. During the past week Flathead and whiting have been about in the normal shallow flats, mainly up and around the river mouth with live worms and yabbies being the preferred baits. Bream have been around in the usual places, around structures such as the Noosa Sound bridge ranging up to 35cm with prawns and mullet strips being the best baits. Up the river towards the cable ferry crossing, fish have been on the chew, with several Flathead and bigger trevally being caught on live baits. Tailor are starting to appear around the river mouth on the high tide, they have been caught using plastics and prawns. Crabbing in the river has been alright with a range of sand crabs caught down the bottom end of the river. The sand crabs are out in packs and now is the time to drop a pot. The weather is looking fantastic down here with low winds and the sun shining. Come soak up the sun on the Noosa River!

The river has seen lots of bream ranging in size up to 36cm, around several structures such as the Sofitel Bridge and sound bridge. Prawns and worms are the best baits when targeting bream although they will eat just about anything. There have been some ripper flathead caught this week anywhere between Tewantin and Makepeace Island. Soft plastics are the best form of fishing when targeting flathead although mullet gut has been producing results as well. There has been several reports of both golden and silver trevally amongst the waterways mainly in the stretch from the Sheraton bridge to the boat house, with live baits such as herring and mullet being the preferred baits. The river mouth about an hour after high tide has been a highlight spot with several reports of flathead, jewfish, trevally and bream caught. There has been some great reports of sand crabs in the top end of the river around the entrance to Weyba Creek. Whole mullet are the best bait when targeting sand crabs. The river is clear again and the sun is shining there is no better time to get out on the water!

Bream as usual are a popular fish in the Noosa river mainly around structures and deeper holes. Bream are known to eat just about anything but the best bait is prawns. Silver trevally and golden trevally are amongst the river near Woods bay and Munna point. The best time to target trevally is late at night or early in the morning using either pilchards or mullet strips. With this copious rain and the hectic weather the water is dirty and the fish are about. Moving up the river there has still been several reports of great flathead around the ferry crossing and Makepeace Island. Although bait tends to bring in the fish, soft plastics have had the best results when targeting flathead. Lake Cooriobah has also had reports of great golden trevally, silver trevally, flathead and bream. This week has a few forecasted showers although mostly sunny. It’s a great time to escape the wind and drop a line. It’s a great time to get a crab pot in the water as well with the mud crabs on the move.

This week has seen some good rain and storms at night that has spruced the fishing and crabbing. There has been some nice trevally through the Noosaville stretches tipping the scales around the 2 kilo mark. The river mouth and Woods Bays have seen quality bream, flathead and whiting with live prawns and worms getting the best results. Mangrove jack have been on the chew surrounding the Noosa Sound with lures and live baits producing the best results. There has been reports of good quality flathead and whiting on the sand bars before the ferry crossing using live baits. The entrance of the first Lake in the deeper holes has also seen a lot of grunter bream. The dirtier water has stirred up the mud crabs, there has been many reports of decent bucks near the lake. Forecast for the weekend looks patchy with some scattered showers about although mostly fine.
