The recent bout of hot days has aroused a lot of mangrove jack and some larger predators. They are being caught late in the afternoon and evening on live bait and mullet strips from between the top lakes, around the mangroves and jetties.

The has been plenty of bait fish in the lower reaches causing a stir of pelagics, flathead and tailor inside the river mouth and towards the dog beach.

Bream and flathead along with the odd trevally are being caught in the Frying Pan, Woods Bay and the back of Noosa Sound.

White are more scarce this week but best spots to target are the sand flats from Munna Beach through the Noosaville reaches, Weyba Creek and both ends on Lake Cooroibah. Live worms are the best bait especially when they are timid.

The most active times to fish is the last of the run in tide and early and late afternoon as there is little boat disturbance and tides are good.

Hopefully we will get some more follow-up rain and flush a few mud crabs out their holes and down river so always worth throwing in a couple crab pots.

There are a few storms and showers mid-week but it looks likely to clear up before and during the weekend with nice 30 degree days.
