Noosa River Weekly Fishing Report

The fish of the week goes to Lizzie with this 58cm golden trevally almost as big as she is. Up from Melbourne with her family on the Noosa Fishing and Crab Adventure, this is a memory to savour and a story to tell.

There were a lot of good fishing stories this week with the river mouth fishing better and good fish right up to the upper reaches. The river mouth has the common varieties as in flathead, trevally, whiting and bream with a few larger pelagics prowling about too. The Frying Pan and Woods Bay are producing the same and the odd mangrove jack thrown in after dark.
Estuary cod, flathead, jacks and bream are in the deeper holes and around structures up Weyba Creek and the back of Noosa Sound and its worth taking a few pots as there are quite a few sand crabs on the move there as well.
The Noosaville reaches to Tewantin is worth a try on the sand flats for whiting, bream and flathead with live beach worms or yabbies best baits. There is plenty of fish being caught from the ski run to the mouth of Lake Cooroibah for all the common types plus a few jacks, jewfish, golden trevally and threadfin salmon thrown in. It’s always worth having a live bait fish floating out the back.
Further up between the lakes is also worth the venture and fish the deeper holes. Towards the top of each tide is fishing best on both run in and out tides.
There is a bit of weather about this week but looks like clearing up towards the weekend but the calm overcast conditions are great for fishing.

Until next week good luck from the boys at Noosa Fishing and Crab Adventures.Lizzy from Melbourne 58cm golden trevally
