Noosa River Weekly Fishing Report

The river has seen lots of bream around deeper holes and structures such as the Tewantin Marina and the frying pan. Prawns and worms are the best baits when targeting bream. There has been some nice golden trevally caught in the top end of the river mainly around woods bay with mullet gut and pilchards being the best baits. The river mouth has seen some trevally and the occasional jewfish over the past week, at the top of the tide. There have been some nice size flathead caught this week anywhere between Tewantin and the ferry crossing mainly around Makepeace Island. Soft plastics are the best form of fishing when targeting flathead although prawns will work also. The ski run has seen some nice catches at dusk and dawn. When fishing in the ski run try using live baits such as herring. There has been some nice mud crabs caught in the river mainly around the dirtier waters such as Lake Cooroibah and the second ski run. The weather is tipped to be fantastic with light winds and no rain.

Weekly Noosa Fishing Report

The river has seen lots of bream around deeper holes and structures such as the Tewantin Marina and the boathouse. Bream eat just about anything, although prawns and chicken fillet have been producing the best results. When moving down the river more, the stretch from Tewantin to the boat house has seen some great whiting. Whiting tend to feed in the shallow water drop offs with live baits such as worms and prawns being key. There have been some ripper flathead caught around the river mouth this week. Soft plastics are the best form of fishing when targeting flathead although mullet will work also. Woods bay has seen some nice catches at dusk and dawn preferably on the top of the tide. The crabbing has been pretty good lately with the clean water present and the sand crabs around. If you’re looking at dropping a pot this week try in spots such as Lake Weyba and the Noosa Sound. The rain has now cleared and the weather is great with only some light winds, so soak up the sun and get out on the water.

The river has seen lots of bream around jetty’s and shallower water drop offs such as the Tewantin Marina and the frying pan. Whiting have been around in the river mainly from Munna point through to Tewantin with live baits such as worms and prawns being ideal. The ski run has seen some nice catches at dusk and dawn preferably on the top of the tide.  Flathead have been around near Makepeace Island the first ski run. Soft plastics are the best form of fishing when targeting flathead although prawns will work also. When heading up the river more towards the first lake there has been many reports of good size diamond and golden trevally. The crabs have gone off the chew lately with the only reports being in Lake Weyba and Woods bay. There is clear weather forecasted after the weekend, there’s no better time to get out on the water and drop a line.

Prawns and worms are the best baits when targeting bream, although chicken fillet has produced some great results also. There has been some nice silver/diamond trevally caught in the top end of the river mainly around woods bay with mullet strips and worms being the best baits. The river mouth has seen some ripper tailor and jewfish over the past week at the top of the tide in areas such as the frying pan. There have been some heavy flathead caught this week anywhere between Munna point and the Tewantin marina. Hard body lures have been the best form of fishing when targeting flathead although prawns will work also. The ski run has seen some nice catches at dusk and dawn. There has also been some nice mud crabs caught in the river mainly around the dirtier waters such as Lake Cooroibah and the second ski run.

Whiting are on the chew, anywhere from Woods Bay to Tewantin Marina with live baits such as worms and prawns being the best. There has been reports of mangrove jack hanging around Woods Bay, with pilchards and mullet strips producing the best results. When targeting mangrove jack, you’re best to drop a line at dusk or dawn preferably on the high tide. Bream, as always are about in the Noosa River, mainly around structures and deeper holes such as the Sound Bridge. Soft plastics have been producing some great fish in the river, including flathead and all types of trevally. Flathead in particular like to hang around shallow water drop offs. The water is clear and the sand crabs are about in the top end of the river. The wind is up for now, however is supposed to drop off for father’s day. It’s a great weekend to get out on the boat and have a fish!

The river this week has cleared up and is looking magnificent. Whiting have been amongst the river anywhere from Munna point to the Boathouse. Live worms and prawns are generally the best baits when targeting whiting. Flathead have been making appearances surrounding shallow water drop offs such as the frying pan and Noosa river mouth. Soft plastics produce the best results when targeting flathead although prawns will work also. The Noosa River mouth has been a highlight fishing spot, especially on the high tide and at the late hours of the afternoon. Pilchards and mullet strips tend to produce the best results when fishing at the bottom end of the river. When moving up the river more, there has been some great reports of decent size bream surrounding Tewantin. Makepeace Island and the ferry crossing have been producing great size flathead, bream, whiting and golden trevally. When fishing down toward the lakes, prawns and squid have been proving to produce the best results. Bream as always, are out and about around structures and sandbanks almost anywhere in the river. The best baits for targeting bream include prawns and yabbies. Whiting have been caught around sandbars near the dog beach. When targeting whiting, live baits such as worms and yabbies produce the best results. There has been tailor caught at dawn and dusk amongst the frying pan and Noosa River mouth. The best baits for tailor include mullet strips and pilchard fillets. Flathead have been on the chew in the Noosa River lately with soft plastics and prawns being the best baits. The best place to target flathead include sand flats anywhere from the dog beach all the way up to the cable ferry crossing past Tewantin. The cable ferry crossing area towards Makepeace Island has been a great spot to drop a line with rewarding reports. Around Lake Cooroibah there has been some trevally caught on live herring and prawns. The weather seems to be fairly sunny with slight chances of showers during the week. A fine weekend is forecasted. It’s a great time to venture out on the serene Noosa River!

Bream as always are about in deeper holes and structures such as the Noosa Sound Bridge and Woods bay. When targeting bream your best to use prawns however they are known to eat just about anything. The Noosa river mouth has been a popular spot with a range of great fish such as tailor, bream, trevally and jewfish caught on the top of the tide. Moving down the river more, whiting have been on the chew surrounding areas such as the boathouse and Tewantin. Live baits are key, with worms being the highlight bait. The stretch from Tewantin through to the ferry has been catching some great size flathead. Flathead tend to like soft plastics and prawns. The weather is tipped to be great this week, with slight to no winds and the sun out. There’s no better time to get amongst the waterways.
