Noosa River Weekly Fishing Report

IMG_0288

With the clearing waters there has been some ripper whiting up the river from the Tewantin Marina, all the way up to Lake Cooriobah. These whiting have mainly been caught with live baits such as worms and yabbies. There has also been an influx of bream around the cable ferry crossing past Tewantin with mullet strips and prawns being the best baits. If you want to venture out in the evening there has been lots of live prawns moving up and down the river which are a great common bait for the river. Trevally and tailor are about on live bait fish and lures, mainly around the rivermouth and Woods bay. There has also been some reports of Mangrove jack in the late afternoon up the top end of the river around Munna Point. Some nice flathead have been caught around the frying pan ranging up to 45cm. It seems to be sunny week next week with no forecasted showers. There is no better time to get out on the river!

Until next week good luck from the boys at O Boats.

Fishing has been excellent in the Noosa river with the water still dirty and the fish still around. The past week bream and trevally have been around in numbers right up to the first lake mostly caught on prawns and mullet strips. Throughout the shallow water up and around the rivermouth their has been good whiting with live worms and yabbies being the preferred bait. The Fishing and Crab Adventures charter pulled in a great range of Golden Trevally close to the rivermouth ranging up to 60cm. Woods bay in the late hours of the afternoon has been a great spot for trevally, with lures and live herring being the recommended baits. Crabbing has been good in the river, mainly up and around Lake Cooriobah with large mud crabs being caught. The weather is forecasted to be sunny right through until after next weekend.
