Noosa River Weekly Fishing Report

With the passing of the full moon the tides are high and the fish are about. There has been lots of decent size trevally in the river caught anywhere from Munna Point all the way down to Tewantin Marina. Flathead have been amongst the river around the sand flats near the river mouth and the frying pan. The best bait for Flathead is prawns and soft plastics. Tailor have also been around the river mouth and woods bay. The best way to target tailor is with a popper at the early hours of the morning and the late afternoon. Whiting have been amongst the river near munna point and the Sound Bridge. When heading up the river there a couple of good spots to catch bream, whiting and Flathead including the ferry crossing and Lake Cooriobah.The best baits for whiting are live baits such as worms and yabbies. The weather is forecasted to be sunny with little chance of rain. Its nice and cool, there is no better time to get out on the Noosa river and wet a line.

The river has seen some great fish over the past week, up and around the rivermouth there has been reports of good size tailor and trevally. The best baits for trevally is pilchard fillets and mullet strips. Also around the rivermouth there has been reports of some great jewfish caught after sunset on live herring. Woods bay at the early hours of the morning is one of the best fishing spots in the river. There has also been some ripper whiting caught up at Lake Cooriobah area on live baits such as worms and yabbies. Bream are still around in numbers, mostly found amongst deeper holes and structures. The best baits for bream include prawns and mullet strips.There has also been some good flathead caught up the river between the Tewantin Marina and Makepeace island, mainly around sand flats. The most rewarding way to target flathead is using soft plastics and lures. There has been great reports of flathead and bream at munna point using prawns. The next week is forecasted to be sunny with light winds. It is a fantastic time to drop a line in the Noosa River.

Bream as always, are out and about around structures and sandbanks. The best baits for targeting bream include prawns and yabbies. Whiting have been caught around sandbars near the dog beach. When targeting whiting, live baits such as worms and yabbies are the best. There has been tailor caught at dawn and dusk amongst the frying pan. The best baits for tailor include mullet strips and pilchard fillets. Flathead have been biting well in the Noosa river lately. Lures such as soft plastics and prawns are the best baits. The best place to target Flathead include sand flats anywhere from the dog beach all the way to the cable ferry crossing past Tewantin. The cable ferry crossing area towards Makepeace Island has been a great spot to drop a line with rewarding reports. Around Lake Cooriobah there has been some trevally caught on live herring and prawns. The weather seems to be fairly sunny with slight chances of showers during the week. A fine weekend is forecasted. It’s a great time for getting outside and wetting a line.

The Noosa River has seen some great fish over the past week. Flathead have been caught in numbers up the river from Tewantin to Makepeace Island. The mouth of Lake Donella has also been a popular spot for flathead. The preferred baits for flathead are prawns and lures. Bream as always, are popular in the river with ranging sizes being caught up near the Noosa rivermouth and munna point. Tailor are appearing around the rivermouth and frying pan with pilchards and mullet strips being the best baits. There are still a few whiting being caught off the sandbags next to the dog beach with live baits such as yabbies and worms being the best. Woods bay has produced some good diamond and golden trevally as well as the occasional mangrove jack on sunset and dusk. When fishing around Woods bay in the early hours of the morning the best baits are mullet strips and live herring. Occasional showers are forecasted over the next week although not lasting for anymore than a few minutes.

The water is starting to clear up throughout the river.
Bream are still amongst the river in numbers in your deeper holes of the river and around structures. The preferred baits for bream include prawns and yabbies. Flathead have been around the Munna Point area with bait fish and lures being the best forms of fishing. There has been reports of mangrove jack at the early hours of the morning around the Woods Bay area with mullet stips and live bait fish. There has been trevally and the odd yellowtail kingfish at the Noosa Sound mainly around structures such as the Sound bridge.It could be worth while dropping in a few crab pots as there are still some nice mud crabs around that are nice and full. Mud crabs have been showing up towards Lake Cooroibah Now that the showers have stopped and a clear week is forecasted there isn’t a better time to get outside cook a barbeque and drop a line.

Due to all of the rain, the Noosa River is starting to turn back to a dirty brown colour. With the winter months here, the bream are on the bite. Some good size bream are being caught around the deeper holes and structures of the river, with prawns and mullet strips being the preferred baits. A few tailor are starting to appear around the Noosa rivermouth and Woods bay mainly caught on pilchards and lures. It’s still worth while throwing a line in around the shallows of the sand banks towards the rivermouth, for there are still a few whiting around, preferably using live baits such as yabbies and worms.The crabbing has been on a path for the better especially with the dirtier water around. From Tewantin down towards the first lake there has been numerous reports of mud crabs being caught. There are a few showers forecasted over the next week, although a fine weekend ahead. With the dirtier water about there is no better time to drop a line and throw a pot out.

The Noosa River has produced some great fish over the past week. Bream and whiting have been caught around the frying pan and sand bags near the Noosa dog beach, with live worms and yabbies being the preferred baits. There is also still reports of whiting up towards the first lake. Around the rivermouth at night time there has been reports of jewfish, flathead and the occasional mangrove jack being caught with live hearing and lures being the best baits. Woods bay has seen bream flatehead and the odd yellowtail kingfsh at the early hours of the morning. Down around the sound bridge, also in the early hours of the morning, has been a hit spot for tailor with lures such as poppers being the best form of fishing. There has been some great mud crabs caught up the river towards lake Cooriobah. The weather shows an odd shower or too but a mostly fine week ahead.
